About Us
In 1937 Lawrence H. Cook began making his hammers in East Providence, Rhode Island, because he saw the need for fine quality, non-marring hammers in local industry. He began producing lead hammers to meet this need, and COOK Hammer Company was born.
The original lead hammer has always been, and continues to be, one of the main types of hammer. Its especially soft blow makes it ideal for many sensitive applications, giving it a key place among the other lines of soft alloy hammers developed at COOK over the years
Today . . .
COOK Hammer Company was purchased August, 31, 2017 by Lapeer Manufacturing Company of Lapeer, MI. As of October 19, 2017, COOK Hammer Company has moved from its Warwick, RI facility and now operates out of the Lapeer plant in Lapeer, MI. We have expanded from the original line of lead hammers. Today we offer over 10 lines of hammers.
For 75 years we have improved our technology in non-marring hammers:
- perfecting quality, safety and design
- adding new lines of hammers for specific applications, including non-sparking and dead-blow hammers.
Now, as always, all production is done on site using domestic labor and materials.
COOK hammers continue to be proudly MADE in USA.
